Benefits of Peppermint Oil on Migraine

Peppermint Oil is one of the best essential oils that can assist in reducing migraine symptoms. Peppermint Essential Oil contains the chemical components menthol anywhere from 28 to 46% (depending on the individual batch) and also isomenthone from 4-10%. Both components produce cooling and analgesic qualities. Additionally, if you have headaches related to allergies or congestion, peppermint oil can help to clear the sinuses.


The easiest way to use essential oils is to purchase a diffuser online or at a health food store, and diffuse about five drops into the diffuser. Running the diffuser for 45 minutes, three times a day can help provide headache and migraine relief. Another way to reduce migraine pain is to apply peppermint oil topically. Put 2-3 drops of oil in the palm of your hand, rub your hands together and then massage into your temples, back of neck and chest.
