Five Foods to eat for Better Brain Power

Nutrition plays an important role in keeping our brain healthy. In honor of World Brain Day 2022, here are five foods important for better brain power!

Leafy green vegetables: Packed with essential vitamins and minerals including E., K, and numerous others, leafy greens play a part in preventing cognitive decline. They also help to improve sleep and maintain a positive mood. Kale, spinach, collard greens and broccoli are just a few!

Nuts: Nuts can improve both heart health and brain health. They contain various nutrients, including antioxidants, healthy fats, and Vitamin E. They are also a great addition to any diet because they produce energy without the calories. They are a good option to have for a snack, too.

Eggs: Eggs have always been a popular breakfast food with a high protein value. They can improve cognitive performance in adults and is a good source of choline, which can reduce inflammation and promote brain function.

Berries: Having a high antioxidant quotient, berries help improve immunity and combat inflammation. They also include anthocyanin and polyphenols making them effective in improving symptoms related to depression and anxiety. They also help delay short-term memory loss. Add strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries to your diet for good brain health.

Oily fish: Your brain uses essential fatty acids, specifically omega-3s to build brain and nerve cells, and these fats are essential for learning and memory. They are found in good quantity in fish. Fish oil primarily contains two types of omega-3 fatty acids-EPA and DHA. They are found almost exclusively in fatty fish and oil. When a person has low level of DHA, it can lead to brain ailments like dementia and Alzheimer's. Adding oily fish like salmon and tuna to the diet can also help manage stress, boost mood, and aide in the development of the central nervous system.
