I love this interpretation of Pema Chödrön's quote from the Karma Yoga Center...
"If there is a negative habit, addiction, or problem that keeps repeatedly showing up in your life, know that it holds a deep message for you. Be brave and look into the darkness of that struggle. We often coddle our problems so they don't scream at us. We find a routine or method to muffle their cries for attention instead of pacifying our fears. Let them teach you about yourself. Don't quiet them with your addictions, don't let them in your room and ignore them, and don't stay stuck in an unhealthy lifestyle in order to avoid confronting them. Turn and face them. As they reveal to you a secret about your soul, they will simultaneously dissolve into the air. And in turn, this liberation will lead you to deep satisfaction and joy in your heart."
Pema Chödrön's quote from her book: " When Things Fall Apart"
